SUPP slams DAP for ‘welcoming’ PPBM to Sarawak

KUCHING, June 27: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) says it is a “despicable political move” for Democratic Action Party (DAP) to welcome Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM), and equivalent to betraying Sarawak’s rights.

The party also stated that it rejects all political parties from Malaya, including PPBM.

“SUPP all this while does not support any political party from outside Sarawak — including those from Malaya — coming to Sarawak.

“The political party headed by Tun Dr Mahathir (Mohamad), namely PPBM, plans to come to Sarawak. It reflects the political encroachment and a planned eroding of Sarawak’s rights by Malaya-based political parties after the GE14 (14th General Election),” said SUPP in a statement today.

It pointed out that the majority of the leaders of PPBM are former United Malays National Organisation (Umno) leaders.

“It is a racial political party caring for the interests of a single race with full Umno racialism and colour. The coming of PPBM shall deter the racial harmony long enjoyed by the people of Sarawak. The people of Sarawak will never endorse the coming of PPBM.

“We strongly deplore the stance of the member parties of Pakatan Harapan (PH) in Sarawak, including the DAP (Democratic Action Party) in welcoming the coming of PPBM. Such a stance is a despicable political move, equivalent to betraying the rights of Sarawak,” said SUPP.

SUPP further opined that Sarawak DAP and its Malayan counterparts, have teamed up with Malaya-based political parties, and are working against the aspiration and rights of Sarawak and helping the Malaya-based political parties to come to Sarawak to encroach the resources and wealth of Sarawak.

“When BN (Barisan Nasional) was in power, Sarawak was able to stop the coming of Umno. But now, the PH leaders, YB Chong Chieng Jen and YB Baru Bian, can they stop the coming of PPBM to Sarawak?

“Do they dare to tell Tun Dr Mahathir that Sarawak does not want PPBM? If they dare not and cannot stop the coming of PPBM, it would mean that they are weak, incapable and powerless,” said SUPP.

SUPP highlighted that in December 16, 2015, the then Chief Minister Pehin Sri Adenan Satem during his winding up speech had challenged the DAP elected representatives to table a motion in the State Legislative Assembly that Sarawak shall permanently bar the coming of Umno, DAP, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and other Malaya-based political parties to Sarawak.

“However, the DAP YBs dared not to take up the challenge. They had in fact conspired to help the Malaya-based political parties to come to Sarawak, reflecting that DAP never had the heart to safeguard the rights of Sarawak.

“Sarawakians must be fully alert against the attempt of the Malaya-based political parties which are trying to encroach the resources of Sarawak as well as conspire to control Sarawak. What would be the results of such attempts and conspiracy? Sabah is the lesson.”

SUPP said its stance of safeguarding the interests and rights of Sarawak has always been clear and steadfast.

“In fact, the responsibility and obligation of safeguarding the rights of Sarawak falls on the shoulder of Sarawak-based political parties, which know the actual situation of Sarawak as well as the aspiration of the local people,” said SUPP. — DayakDaily
