SUPP Satok branch hands out 500 lanterns at Mid-Autum Mooncake Festival celebration

KUCHING, Sept 9: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Satok branch handed out about 500 lanterns to members of the public at Kuching Waterfront today to share the joy of the Mid-Autum Mooncake Festival celebration.

The event, which started at 6.30pm, was joined by Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian together with political secretary to the Premier of Sarawak Tan Kai, senior lawyer Shankar Ram Asnani and others.


According to organising chairman Goh Leng Yeu who is also SUPP Satok chairman, the purpose of the event is to share the joy of the Mid-Autum Mooncake Festival celebration with other races.

“This is a Chinese tradition and we want to celebrate it together with all the races in Sarawak,” he said when met by reporters during the event.

Apart from that, Goh said that SUPP Satok branch also handed out mooncakes to the public during the event.

“We also hung lanterns on trees along Jalan Rambutan in Satok, including in Jalan Nanas Road West,” he added. — DayakDaily
