KUCHING, June 4: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) president Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian has hinted that Sarawak is moving into an election period, saying the next 100 days will be crucial for the State’s political direction.

Speaking at SUPP’s 67th anniversary flag-raising ceremony today, Dr Sim told party members to prepare for intensified political activity ahead, stressing the need to step up efforts in strengthening the party’s narrative and public engagement.

“We are fighting the war, less than 100 days from now. So we really need to get going,” he said, while urging members to actively share messages and defend the party’s achievements.

He said the coming period was not merely about elections, but about Sarawak’s broader nation-building agenda leading up to 2030.

“This election is a matter of whether Sarawak continues to grow towards 2030 or not. Are we already mature, or will we still be growing? The difference is that if we are mature after 2030, no one can bully Sarawak,” he added.

Dr Sim, who is also the Deputy Premier of Sarawak and Batu Kawa assemblyman, further said Sarawak was now entering what he described as a “final stage of nation-building”, with key priorities including health autonomy, education autonomy and the full implementation of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

“We must tell the people of Sarawak why we need to give a bigger mandate — not just another chance, but a stronger mandate than before — because we are at the final stage of nation-building.

“This is the time to do big things, such as health autonomy, education autonomy and the implementation of the MA63.

“This is the time for every Sarawakian to come together so that we can achieve political independence, financial independence, as well as progress in health autonomy, education autonomy and the rest of MA63,” he emphasised.

An audio recording of his speech was later shared with DayakDaily. — DayakDaily
