‘Superman’ stunt lands daredevil teen in handcuffs

PADAWAN, Oct 8: An 18-year-old teenage motorcylist was arrested by police here for reckless and dangerous riding after performing a ‘Superman’ stunt.

According to a statement from Padawan police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan, if found guilty under the Road Transport Act 1987, the male teenager could be jailed for up to five years or fined between RM5,000 to RM15,000.

The teen was caught during ‘Ops Khas Samseng Jalanan’ which was held at Mile 13, Jalan Kuching-Serian from 11pm on Oct 5 until 4am the next day. The operation was aimed at detecting and arresting motorcyclists involved in illegal racing activities.


Ten personnel from the Padawan Investigation and Traffic Enforcement Section and eight police reserve volunteers took part in the operation.

A total of six motorcycles were seized and 67 summonses issued for various offences including for not having a driving licence, exhaust modification, blinding headlights, lack of insurance and expired road tax.

“This type of operation will be held from time to time especially during weekends to ensure illegal racing activities by Mat rempit will be eliminated, especially in Padawan district,” according to Aidil.

He advised the public to channel information about such illegal racing activities to the police so enforcement could be carried out. — DayakDaily
