SRI AMAN, Nov 8: A happy, united and harmonious family is a pillar of strength for one’s success and development, said Dato’ Sri Doris Sophia Brodie, political secretary to the Chief Minister and Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Women’s chief at the Sri Aman mini stadium yesterday.

“A dynamic family is a family that continues to improvise both in skills and knowledge together. Today, I am impressed because most of the women participants here are not only mothers, wives and grandmothers but there are some who are also career and business women, community leaders and politicians coming together in one family spirit of womenhood.

“The parents’ role within a family unit is of prime importance because they not only drive the family forward but are role models that their family members, especially the younger ones, can emulate and take examples from,” she said.

According to a press release, Doris made these remarks when officiating at a programme to enhance skills and family prosperity organised by the Sri Aman Division Women and Family Development Council (MPWK) headed by Annie Lai who also spoke at the function.

On local politics, Doris said that people of Sri Aman must see themselves as one big family within a community.

“Hence as one big family, we must be supportive of each other and since incumbent MP, YB Dato’ Masir Kujat, is our candidate for BN (Barisan Nasional) in the forthcoming PRU14, I therefore seek that we unanimously support and throw our votes behind him. It is our hope that he will continue to bring about development, within his jurisdiction under the present government, for the people of Sri Aman,”

Also present were PRS Women deputy chief Rosaline Neging and local women councillors and community leaders in Sri Aman. An exercise session and cake-making sessions were among the activities lined up for the programme. —
