KUCHING, Nov 3: Sri Aman MP Dato Sri Doris Sophia Brodie has warned the public against a fake TikTok account using her name and photographs without her permission, cautioning that it could be used to deceive people and carry out scams.

She said the account had been impersonating her, creating the false impression that it was her official TikTok account.

“In this regard, the public is advised to remain vigilant and take the following precautions: Do not be easily deceived. Do not trust, entertain or respond to any suspicious messages or claims made by the account,” she said in a statement today.

Doris also advised the public against sharing personal information, including identity card numbers, banking details, passwords, one-time passwords (OTPs) and verification codes.

She urged the public to ignore any requests for money, donations, financial assistance or fund transfers from the account, and avoid clicking on suspicious links or following any instructions given by it.

“Members of the public are encouraged to report the account to TikTok for impersonation and help spread this notice to raise public awareness,” she added.

She also reminded the public to verify information through her official communication channels.

Doris expressed appreciation for the public’s cooperation in preventing the misuse of her identity and protecting others from falling victim to scams. — DayakDaily
