SEBUYAU, Jan 29: The State government has approved RM17 million for the Kampung Sungai Ladong village extension scheme.

Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Julaihi Narawi said the Land and Survey Department had identified 29 acres of land.

“The government implemented the scheme knowing very well that the village is congested.

“After this, the village will have proper drainage system, facilities, and water and electricity supply,” he said at a thanksgiving ceremony for Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) victory in the recent 12th Sarawak Election and Sebuyau being elevated into a full district today.

He urged the affected landowners to fully support the programme for their benefit.

Julaihi, who has been Sebuyau assemblyman since 1991, also pointed out that the area has developed by leaps and bounds.

“With Sebuyau elevated into a full district, it will trigger more development. For this reason, the people need to be prepared.

“We cannot just stand and stare. We have to participate in the development process,” he stressed.

Present at the programme were his wife, Datin Sadiah Buju, and Sarawak Administrative Officer (SAO) Ajis Ahmad. — DayakDaily
