KUCHING, July 2: Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen had approved RM10,000 to repair SK Landeh’s main gate, main box switch, toilet facilities and air-conditioning.

His special assistant Abdul Aziz Isa who is also Democratic Action Party (DAP) Batu Kitang chairman announced this at the ‘Majlis Sambutan Hari Guru dan Gawai Raya’ event organised by the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) recently.

In a statement yesterday, Abdul Aziz said that DAP through its Stampin Parliamentary Service Centre will always try their best to provide better services to the public especially to the schools within the Batu Kitang state constituency.

“This is because education is an investment that pays the best interest. Currently, there are a few other requests from other schools that will be approved in a short period of time and the official announcement will be made accordingly,” he disclosed.

On SK Landeh, Abdul Aziz said that the newly completed school was approved under the second rolling plan of the 10th Malaysia Plan at a cost of RM19.6 million.

“It was completed in November 16, 2016. However after nearly two years of being completed, the school faced many problems such as leakage, no proper safety system, and many more,” he lamented.

He said that as the government of the day, it is their duty to ensure requests from schools such as SK Landeh are their top priority.

He said the issue of the school was raised after he met with the school’s headmistress, Nur Sarah Sandra Stephen pertaining to the school’s structure problems.

“I told Sarah to submit an official application letter to the Stampin Parliamentary Service Centre office and on May 24, 2019,she submitted the letter to our office,” Abdul Aziz said.

“The good news is that in a span of just one month, the proposal received approval from Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen for the amount of RM10,000 without any delay.”

Abdul Aziz said the school consists of 404 pupils, 28 teachers, 5 supporting staff, 3 religious teachers and 8 private workers.

He added that many parents from Batu Kitang state constituency send their kids to this school and most of them are from Kpg Landeh, Kpg Betong, Kpg Sebuak and Taman Cahaya Indah Landeh.

Also present at the event were Bank Rakyat Kota Padawan branch manager Ithnen Yaman and SK Landeh PIBG vice-chairman Bahren Kamal were also present at the function. — DayakDaily
