Snatch thief dies after motorcycle crash in Batu Kawa

KUCHING, Dec 29: A 32-year-old snatch thief died shortly after stealing a woman’s handbag when his motorcycle crashed into the metal gate of the General Operations Force camp in Batu Kawa yesterday.

Padawan District Police Chief Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi said the suspect snatched the handbag from a woman who was riding pillion on a motorcycle with her husband and young son around 1.30pm at Jalan Field Force, Batu Kawa.

“The suspect attempted to flee but crashed into the metal gate of the Batu Kawa General Operations Force Brigade headquarters.

“Upon inspection, the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel,” he said in a statement.

The case is being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code for robbery and Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. – DayakDaily
