KUCHING, Sept 6: SMK St Joseph Kuching is appealing for more funds for the school to complete its restoration by January 2021.

The school’s Old Josephians Association (OJA) in a press statement said it organised a virtual Ora Et Labora Run 2020 due to Covid-19 instead of the yearly physical run.

The association said it managed to register 350 participants and raised RM4,742 for SMK St Joseph’s Mill hill block restoration project which had started last month.

It revealed that the project’s total cost is RM5.5 million and the association had raised RM2.5 million last year.

OJA said the school is in need of another RM3 million and the association is going all out on the second wave of its donation drive.

“Any individual or group of Josephians who raised RM100,000 can have a classroom named after them subject to the approval of the School Board of Management.

“There are nine classrooms available for naming and to date four had been taken up.

The president of the OJA, YB Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian appealed to all fellow Josephians and corporate entities to donate generously to the restoration fund so that more students can benefit from premier education,” it said.

OJA said generous donors can contribute their donations online by transferring the funds to its Maybank account at 511113 526004 with  the account name, SJS MILL HILL BLOCK RESTORATION.

Subsequently, OJA said they can send the funds transferred information to its email sjsmillhillblock1894@gmail.com for the issuance of a receipt or contact the school at 082-240885

OJA added the association also has a list of items and the cost of it for the restored classrooms that the donors may want to consider when making a contribution. —DayakDaily
