The run which was organised by the Old Josephians’ Association (OJA) Kuching, resulted in a total of 1,300 Josephians converging at SMK St Joseph for the event which was themed “I Run for St Joseph’s”.

The event was held to encourage former students of SMK St Joseph, St Joseph Private School and St Joseph International School, to gather and serve their alma mater, apart from raising funds for students’ extra-curricular activities.

Deputy Sarawak Premier and OJA president Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian applauded the three schools for coming together in the Back-To-School Games held on Friday (Oct 6) and the Ora Et Labora Run (Oct 7) which demonstrated strong integration among the Josephian family.

“St Joseph’s Family of Schools—we have three schools in it together namely SMK St Joseph, St Joseph’s Private School and St Joseph’s International School.

“This is unique and only in Sarawak, we have this kind of set up where we have SMK St Joseph being a government-aided school while St Joseph’s Private School and St Joseph’s International School are both private schools.

“The three schools come together and participate in many activities together,” he said before flagging off the runners at the event.

He further called on all Josephians to continue to support their alma meter as it is a platform to get together and an opportunity for all to reunite.

He also thanked the event’s sponsors and partners namely Sarawak Energy Berhad, Saradise Sdn Bhd, Lee Onn Development Sdn Bhd, Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), Perunding Iskfit, Resources Surveys Services, Yenyen Birdnest, 100 PLUS, Revolution Run Borneo and Kuching Happy Runner Club.

Also present were Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting and Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman who is also an OJA committee member. – DayakDaily
