KUCHING, Oct 4: Six local men have been arrested for their involvement in an assault that occurred at the carpark area of a private hospital here, which resulted in the victim sustaining head injuries.
According to Kuching District Police Chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah, a police report was filed regarding the attack, which took place on Oct 1 at 7.04pm.
The victim reported that a group of men assaulted him with a knife after he had brought his child to the hospital for treatment.
“The six suspects were arrested on Oct 2 at 5.50pm.
“All of them have a history of serious offences, including drug-related crimes, acts of violence and commercial offences,” Ahsmon disclosed in a press statement issued yesterday (Oct 3).
Urine tests conducted on the suspected also returned positive for methamphetamine in five of them, while one suspect tested negative.
The suspects will be remanded for four days until Oct 7.
The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code, which carries imprisonment of up to 10 years, fine or whipping, or any two punishments, if convicted. — DayakDaily
