KUCHING, Sept 27: Legendary songstress Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza took home four trophies at the 25th Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM25), including Best Song for “Pesanan Buat Diri”, as the prestigious awards ceremony made its debut in Kuching on Saturday night (Sept 26).
Her winning track, composed by Aubrey Suwito with lyrics by Datuk Habsah Hassan, also won Best Traditional Song.
Siti Nurhaliza also clinched Best Female Vocal for “Kesuma” and Best Local Artist/Songwriter Collaboration with an Overseas Artist/Songwriter for “Cenderamaya”, a collaboration with Amni Musfirah, Irena Taib and Jamilah Abu Bakar.
However, Mimifly emerged as the night’s biggest winner with five trophies, including Best Festive Song for “Serumpun”, Best Music Video and Best Electronic Pop/Dance Song for “Temberang”, Best Musical Arrangement for “Nara” and Highest-Earning Song on TikTok for “Serumpun”.
Held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), AIM25 marked the first time the awards ceremony was hosted in Sarawak and outside Peninsular Malaysia.
The silver jubilee edition, supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak (MTCP), also introduced two new categories — Best Borneo Song and Best Festive Song.
The inaugural Best Borneo Song award went to Mawat for “Dayang Bintang”, with the trophy presented by Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
The new category marked the first time a Borneo-specific award was introduced at AIM, recognising the musical identity and works of artistes from the region.
The ceremony was graced by Abang Johari as guest of honour, accompanied by his daughter Dayang Norjihan Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari.
Also present were Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Deputy Minister Datuk Snowdan Lawan, Speaker of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar and Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.
Meanwhile, Aisha Retno won three awards, taking Best Album and Best Album Recording for “[RE.HAB]”, as well as Best Local English Song for “O.R.B.I.T”.
Legendary rock singer Ella was also honoured with the Anugerah Sri Wirama lifetime achievement award.
