KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 27: Barisan Nasional (BN) will leave the unity government once Parliament is dissolved, signalling the end of its participation in the current administration at the close of the present parliamentary term.
“The moment Parliament is dissolved, we will no longer be with them (unity government),” said BN chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in his keynote address at the 18th annual general assembly of Parti Makkal Sakti Malaysia here today, as reported by Astro Awani.
Zahid said the coalition’s decision to remain in the unity government was made following the 2022 General Election, describing it as a commitment made to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong through the formation of the unity government.
“In a complex situation, we need a fixed compass. BN decided to join the government after GE15, and our commitment remains to stay in the government until the end of the 15th parliamentary term,” he said.
Zahid, however, stressed that BN’s participation in the unity government did not mean the coalition had abandoned its political identity or positions. — DayakDaily
