KUCHING, Feb 4: There is only one woman in the newly formed Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) supreme council — Simoi Peri who is also Lingga assemblywoman.
Simoi is sitting on the supreme council of the Bumiputera wing while there is no female representation at all in the supreme council of the Pesaka wing.
Among the state Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties, the PBB leadership has shown a good example in giving opportunity to female leadership as it is the party with the most number of elected representatives of the fairer sex.
The newly finalised list however, showed that the party as a whole still has quite a long way to go in giving more opportunities to women politically.
For the Pesaka wing, the supreme council members are Dato Sri Dr James Dawos Mamit, Datuk Ambrose Blikau Enturan, John Ilus, Jefferson Jamit Unyat, Dennis Ngau, Dato Robert Laing Anyie, Michael Mujah Lihan, Richard Tawan Sedu, Daniel Jubang Kanyan, Asiang Gihep, Mikai Mandau, Paulus Dandee Banyang, John Nyigor and Hajis Japar Labaw.
For the Bumiputera wing, the supreme council members included Datuk Ahmad Lai Bujang, Dato Mushidi DiRaja Dr Juanda Jaya, Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, Mohd Razi Sitam, Razali Gapor, Abdul Yakup Arbi, Awla Dris, Yussibnosh Balo, Simoi, Ripin Lamat, Dato Ahmad Ibrahim, Buang Bolhassan, Haidar Khan Asghar Khan, Awangku Jinal Abedin Pgn Jawa, Zainulabidin Ismail and Pandi Suhali. — DayakDaily
