KUCHING, March 19: Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP) Sarawak will consider Silabur Ultra Trail Challenge as an annual event under Calendar of Event (COE) Sarawak for 2024.
In stating this, Minister Dato Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said his ministry will fully support the event too.
“We will always find the opportunity or ways to attract more tourists to Sarawak and our target for this year 2023 is 3 million.
“Our focus markets is Europe, Middle East, Oceania, North Asia, and Asean markets as well as domestic markets,” said Abdul Karim whose speech text was read out by Tebedu assemblyman Dr Simon Sinang Bada representing him to officiate at Silabur Ultra Trail 2023 Challenge held at Kampung Lobang Batu in Tebedu, today.
Meanwhile, when met by reporters after the event, Dr Simon said he is committed to turn Silabur Cave into a tourism product for Tebedu, and Serian in general.
He said that while Serian already has several tourism products available, he is focusing on promoting the uniqueness of local culture.
“Sarawak is rich with adventure, so we try to connect it with nature.
“Hopefully next year, we incorporate one more aspect which is food. So we will have culture, adventure and food,” he added. — DayakDaily
