According to the accusation, the accused, who is unemployed, admitted guilty to the charge of causing unintentional injuries leading to the death of his 43-year-old wife at their home in Taman Duranda Emas, Siburan, around 8.30am on January 22.

If convicted, he could face a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, a fine, or both.

However, Judge Musli Abdul Hamid has scheduled a mention date for the case on March 6, pending the chemistry report. The accused will remain in custody until the case is concluded.

The prosecution was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor Ruvinasini Pandian, while the defendant was not represented by legal counsel.

Earlier, Padawan district police chief, Superintendent Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad, stated that they arrested the man after receiving a report regarding the death of the woman believed to have suffered injuries after a dispute with her husband.

The incident is believed to have been triggered by the victim’s demand for divorce due to her husband’s refusal to work for the past year.

According to the police chief, the suspect frequently asked for money but did not assist her in business endeavours, instead opting to only sleep and eat. — DayakDaily
