Sibu police nab trio on suspicion of shoplifting

SIBU, Nov 23: Three persons, including a woman, have been arrested for allegedly shoplifting at a pharmacy here today.

The male suspects were aged 25 and 39 respectively while the woman was aged 32. All of them are jobless.

Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said at about 10.40am on Sunday, a shop assistant of the pharmacy located at Sarawak House Shopping Complex, was alerted by the alarm of the closed circuit television (CCTV).


“When he went through footage of the CCTV, he saw two men wearing motorcycle helmet, walking out of the shop with four bottles of multi-vitamins worth a total of RM193.81,” he said.

The two suspects when entering the shop, did not register their particulars either in the log book or through MySejahtera app.

Stanley said at about 1am today, three policemen stumbled upon three persons roaming in the vicinity of Sibu Gateway.

“Upon investigation, they admitted to have committed theft at the pharmacy,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft in a building. — DayakDaily
