Sibu police nab trio for MCO non-compliance

SIBU, Jan 29: Despite the surging Covid-19 cases, there are still individuals who are stubborn by not adhering to the Movement Control Order.

The MPV patrol police in patrolling around the town arrested three men, aged 16 to 31 years, at Jalan Bengkel at 11.30 pm last night.

Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the three men were checked and questioned to explain why they were not at house at that time.


“The police team took them to the police station after they failed to give a good reason for being in the town at midnight ” he said.

He said the three men had been found to have committed offences under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (No.3) 2021 (Act 342) 1988.

They were issued with a compound notice worth RM1,000 each and are required to pay the payment within 14 days from the date issued at the Ministry of Health (MOH) office here. — DayakDaily
