SIBU, Sept 18: Future Sibu International Base Jump (SIBJ) events will be held over a longer period of between five to one week instead of three days only if the number of participants warrant it.
“SIBJ will last longer if more participants participate in the event next year,” Sibu Division Resident Wong Hie Sieng said at a farewell and closing dinner for SIBJ 2022 last night.
Wong who is also the chairman of the SIBJ 2022 organising committee called on this year’s participants to invite their friends to join in the event next year.
“With more jumpers next year, it will surely liven up the atmosphere of the event,” he said.
He expressed pride over the increased participation from Malaysian jumpers in this year’s event.
“I also hope that the number of participants from abroad will increase next year also,” said Wong.
The event which was held from Sept 14-17 saw 33 participants from Australia, United States of America, and Malaysia making base jumps from Wisma Sanyan here, the highest building in Sarawak at a height of 126 metres.
