“But I hope the contractor can complete the bridge by June, or at the very latest, by Gawai Dayak. It would make the celebration even more special for the local community,” he remarked in a media release today.

Uggah, who is also the Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development, added that the full delivery of off-site fabricated components from the Sejingkat factory is expected to arrive for installation at the site this month.

Yesterday, Uggah attended briefings on the bridge and Bebuling STOLport projects, as well as two main road projects, at the Public Works Department (JKR) Betong Division office.

Regarding the RM296 million Bebuling STOLport, Uggah revealed that the project is 70.16 per cent complete, slightly ahead of the scheduled 69.77 per cent progress.

The STOLport is also set for completion by August this year.

With the terminal building finished, work now focuses on installing the airport systems, airside civil works (runway and taxiway), and landside civil works (carpark and main access road).

“I am pleased with the progress of both the Bebuling STOLport and the Sungai Paku bridge. They are on track for successful completion. While the contractors have faced some minor challenges, I am confident that they will resolve these issues and complete the projects on time,” he said.

Betong MP Datuk Dr Richard Rapu, Betong Resident Richard Micheal Abunawas, divisional JKR engineer Jason Ng and divisional Land And Survey Superintendent Moris Nayup were among those present at the briefing. — DayakDaily
