KUCHING, Nov 7: The sewerage project in Gita, affecting the roads throughout Kampung Pinang Jawa and Kampung Laruk Skim, is expected to reach 90 per cent completion by end of this month, says Tupong assemblyman Datuk Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman.
According to a press release, he said the deadline was set during a meeting followed by a site visit for the project today which was attended by the relevant agencies, project contractor and the residents.
āWe were briefed by the sewerage department and the consultant on the status of the project, its challenges and the way forward.
āFrom the project map, we have identified close to 90 per cent of the roads (affected by the sewerage project) will be completed by the end of November and will be resurfaced,ā he said.
Fazzrudin said the meeting also urged the contractor to finalise the works on the stretches of road whereby the sewerage project is completed or has reached near completion.
At the same time, he said there are several stretches of road where the project is still under construction due to technical challenges faced by the contractor.
āThere are only two or three stretches that are still in the works,ā he said, adding that the contractors are doing their best to resolve the issues.
Fazzrudin who is also chief political secretary to the Premier said resurfacing works will commence following the completion of the sewerage projects to provide comfort and safety to the road users as well as the public. ā DayakDaily
