SIBU, Oct 10: Several areas in Sibu are expected to experience water supply interruption this Thursday (Oct 12) starting from 10pm, estimated to last between four and six hours.
In a statement, Sibu Water Board (SWB) said the interruption is to make way for modification and upgrading works for the main switchboard and treated water pump for Zone 60 at the Salim Water Treatment Plant.
The affected areas are:
- Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce (Jalan Salim bypass) from Lorong 40 to 52 (including SMK Bukit Assek and Borneo Supermarket)
- Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman from Department of Chemistry to Jalan Ulu Sungai Merah (including Jalan Permai Jaya, Daesco, Starlink Hotel, Jalan Ling Kai Cheng, Jalan Gelama, Jalan Angsana, Sekolah Rosli Dhoby, Sekolah Vocasional, Lorong Deshon 18, and Lorong Ulu Sungai Merah 12 to 63)
- Kampung Bahagia Jaya
- Rumah Edward and Rumah John Lalong at Jalan Teku Pasai
- Jalan Oya Lama until Sibu/Bintulu junction (including Sibu Hospital, Jalan Permai, Jalan Undan, Jalan Cendana, Lorong Tunku Abdul Rahman 31, Jalan Satria, Jalan Bumi Indah, Jalan Kampung Jeriah, Bougainvillea Street, Pine Street, Kemuyang Park, Rascom Camp, Methodist Victory Home, and Jalan Pasai Bon Dua)
“Consumers are advised to keep adequate water supply throughout the duration (of the water supply interruption),” said SWB.
It added that it will try to complete the modification and upgrading works as soon as possible and restore water supply in the affected areas gradually.
The board also said that if the weather doesn’t permit, work will be brought forward to the next day.
