KUCHING, Dec 19: The three-month-old baby girl who passed away in her mother’s arms at a bus stop at Jelukong, Sri Aman on Dec 4 is believed to have passed away from sepsis and meningitis.
Sarawak Health Department director Dr Ooi Choo Huck said the final investigation report found that the baby girl and her mother was on a bus en route from Kuching to Sarikei to seek traditional treatment.
“The mother noticed that the baby was no longer breathing when they stopped at the bus stop. The baby was then brought to a nearby hospital and was confirmed to have passed away.
“Nevertheless, a post-mortem was not conducted upon the family’s request. The deceased was then taken home by the family and buried,” he said in a statement today.
He further said that based on a report following an interview with the baby’s parents, medical record and physical inspection on the deceased, there is a possibility that the cause of death was due to sepsis and meningitis.
Thus, the department advised the members of the public to bring sick babies or children to the nearest health facility immediately. – DayakDaily
