KUCHING, May 22: Sepak Takraw Association Betong Division (PESTAB) has decided to exit the Sarawak Sepak Takraw Association (PSS) with immediate effect, stating it does not want any part of what it termed to be a ‘personal drama’.

This came after PSS announced its decision to exit its umbrella organisation Malaysian Sepak Takraw Association (PSM) yesterday (May 21).

PESTAB president Datuk Paruwadi Musa said PSS’s decision do not reflect the entire branch associations in the State to which it has led to the departure of Sepak Takraw Association Bintulu Division (PSTB).

“As sepak takraw enthusiasts, we (PESTAB) disagree with PSS’s departure and we believe that it was made based on the personal decision of several executive members, not the whole branch associations.

“I believe there will be other branch associations that will follow suit after Bintulu and Betong (associations),” he told reporters when met near Metrocity Matang here today.

According to Paruwadi, he had attempted to ask the PSS executive council to consider their decision to exit PSM.

“I had also asked them on PSS’s direction if they proceeded to exit PSM but none of my questions can be answered,” he said.

Paruwadi also expressed his concern over the trainer referees in the State who owned licence issued by the PSM.

“If PSS exits PSM, what would happen to our trainer referees especially those hailed from Betong? Don’t that mean their licences are no longer valid?

“That is why for the sake of sepak takraw fraternity, we (PESTAB) wish to stay and remain affiliated with PSM,” he added. — DayakDaily
