Sentosa 2 Cluster swells to 83 positive Covid-19 cases after 29 new cases reported today

KUCHING, July 16: The Sentosa 2 Cluster has recorded an increase of 29 new cases today, increasing the cumulative number of cases to 83.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said 181 individuals have been screened as of today whereby zero tested negative and 98 more samples are awaiting laboratory test results.


To date, there have been no recoveries or discharges as the number of active cases connected to the cluster remains at 83.

The Sentosa 2 Cluster that was declared two days ago on July 14 involves the Sentosa Specialist Hospital where initially 52 health workers and residents were found positive for the virus.

SDMC assured that all positive patients have been admitted into the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and the Kuching Low-risk Treatment and Quarantine Centre (PKRC) for isolation and treatment purposes.

Meanwhile, Sarawak reported two new clusters namely the Bukit Tinggi Cluster in Meradong and the Lempaong Cluster in Betong.
