KUCHING, Jan 2: There is no reason for the Opposition to carry out the ‘Dubai Move’ as Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim has proven what he can do, showing his political commitment to Malaysia.
In a press statement, Senator Abun Sui Anyit said Sarawakians were fortunate when Anwar became the prime minister and ordered that Sarawak’s rights enshrined in Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) be implemented within a month during the beginning of his administration.
“We are even more fortunate because Deputy Prime Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof, who is a Sarawakian, was entrusted with his responsibility,” he said.
The senator further said with the arrival of 2024, he hoped that the rights of Sarawak and Sabah under MA63 would continue to be returned without further delay, as the prime minister’s instructions were very clear.
He also wanted the rights of Bumiputeras in Sarawak and Sabah to be implemented as stated under Article 153 of the Federal Constitution.
Furthermore, he said Anwar’s success in bringing approved investments from foreign countries of over RM225 billion as of September 2023 will enable Malaysia to rise again as one of the leading nations in Asia in the years to come.
“Therefore, there is no reason for the Opposition to continue ‘stirring up trouble’ in the country with their desire of wanting to topple the government that is right on track by making moves such as the ‘Dubai Move’ and by wasting the government’s time by slandering and playing the 3Rs (race, religion, royalty) issue.
“The Opposition needs to instead focus on serving as check and balance.” — DayakDaily
