Self-employed man fined RM6,000 for stealing and selling properties belonging to his dad

KUCHING, June 16: The Magistrate’s Court here sentenced a self-employed man to a total fine of RM6,000 for selling and disposing of stolen properties belonging to his father.

Abg Mohd Izwandi Abg Ahmad, 30, was charged with two charges under Section 414 of the Penal Code.

He pleaded guilty to both charges.

Magistrate Zaiton Anuar accepted his plea of guilty and sentenced him to a fine of RM3,000 or in default of seven months’ imprisonment for each charge.

He was found disposing of a piece of furniture belonging to his father, Abg Ahmad Abg Hassan, at Kampung Tabuan Hilir at about 7pm on June 7, 2021.

He was also found disposing of a television, a washing machine and a fan belonging to his father, at Kampung Tabuan Hilir on June 10, 2021.

According to the brief facts of the case, the victim lodged a police report after he discovered that some of his belongings went missing and suspected it was the accused who had stolen his belongings and sold them to others.

Police investigation revealed that the accused had sold items belonging to his father to two men.

Prospecting Officer Insp Nur Syafiqa Nyaie Ilin prosecuted while the accused was unrepresented by counsel. — DayakDaily
