KUCHING, Aug 31: Today’s National Day celebration was a blessing in more ways than one for Osman Labek, a security guard who was presented with a new home.

The 45-year-old security guard received the keys to his new home, which was rebuilt under the Rural Development Ministryā€™s Hardcore Poor Housing Programme (PPRT).

The keys to the house were presented to him by Satok assemblyman Datuk Ibrahim Baki during a simple ceremony at Kampung Bintangor here today.

ā€œPreviously I had lived in a dilapidated house. I am very thankful for this assistance,ā€ Osman said when met.

He expressed delight that his new home was completed within the short span of three months.

ā€œThis (new home) is a blessing for myself and my family, we now have a proper roof over our heads,ā€ he added.

He also hoped that the government would extend the assistance to other villagers who are also living in dilapidated houses and provide them with a proper home.

The construction of his three-bedroom house commenced on April 15 and was completed three months later.

During the ceremony, Ibrahim also presented Osman and his family with food baskets. ā€” DayakDaily
