LAWAS, Sept 11: A search and rescue (SAR) team has recovered a second body during operations to locate three friends who went missing while fishing on Monday.

Faruk Arina Ahmad Sabri, 29, Mohd Amirul Bakar, 26, and Yeu Chee Tiong, 30, had embarked on a fishing trip to Pulau Sari.

According to Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre (PGO) in a statement, Faruk’s body was found floating near Pulau Sari Besar at 11.05pm last night, by villagers and volunteer firefighters from Kampung Punang.

Yeu’s body was found earlier yesterday at about 8.35am, in the vicinity of Sungai Labik-Labik.

When the three anglers failed to return home that day, a police report on missing persons was lodged on Sept 10 by another friend who owns the boat, as he could not reach one of the victim via mobile phone despite several attempts.
