KUCHING, June 7: The Sebangan Rural Transformation Centre (RTC) is being positioned as a key driver of rural development in Sebuyau, providing services that ease residents’ daily affairs while creating opportunities for entrepreneurship and local economic growth.
According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Sarawak Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi said the facility could play a bigger role as a community hub that supports economic activities and improves livelihoods in Sebangan and nearby areas.
“The Sebangan RTC holds immense potential to develop as a community focal point that can support various economic activities and directly benefit the residents in Sebangan and its surrounding areas,” he said during a visit to the centre.
The visit was aimed at reviewing the facilities available at the RTC and assessing its capacity to serve as a rural economic development hub.
Julaihi who is also Sebuyau assemblyman said the services and facilities provided at the centre not only help simplify residents’ daily affairs but also offer a platform to encourage entrepreneurship and stimulate local economic activity.
He expressed hope that the RTC would continue to be fully utilised by the local community and grow into a sustainable development hub capable of supporting long-term socio-economic progress.
He also emphasised the need for continuous efforts to empower rural communities to ensure they enjoy balanced development in line with Sarawak’s wider development agenda.
During the visit, he engaged with traders, visitors and residents to gather feedback on the RTC’s operations and services, while identifying areas for improvement to ensure the facility remains responsive to community needs. — DayakDaily
