SEBUYAU, Nov 5: The Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) is developing 235 affordable homes across 41 acres in Sebuyau New Township, beginning with 100 units in the first phase, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.

According to a report by TVS, Sarawak Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi said the homes would be sold at RM150,000 each, despite an estimated construction cost of RM350,000 per unit, with the difference subsidised by the Sarawak government.

“If we look at these houses, the cost is approximately RM350,000 each, but we are selling them for only RM150,000. This is a gift to the people under the Sarawak government’s initiative,” he said speaking at a press conference on the Sebuyau New Township Development Project today.

Julaihi said the government was also providing a RM10,000 deposit subsidy to further ease the financial burden on buyers and help more residents own their homes.

The project offers three house designs, namely Sapphire 1, Sapphire 2 and Sapphire 3, with different floor areas and layouts to suit buyers’ preferences.

Sapphire 1 has a floor area of 871.82 square feet and comprises three bedrooms and two bathrooms, while Sapphire 2 and Sapphire 3 measure 1,162.5 square feet and 1,156 square feet respectively.

Construction of the first 100 units is underway, with the first 30 targeted for completion by April 2027.

Situated near the Coastal Road linking Batang Sadong Bridge and Batang Lupar Bridge, the development offers residents improved access to surrounding areas. — DayakDaily
