SEB: Selangau blackout caused by short due to sagging conductor line

KUCHING, May 8: The cause of the blackout in Skuau Resettlement Scheme, Selangau which Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) candidate for Selangau Baru Bian alleged had been sabotaged while he was doing a ‘ceramah’ there on Sunday was caused by low tension wires sparking due to a sagging conductor line.

In a press statement from Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) yesterday, the interruption there was restored after following notification to the SEB customer careline at about 6.30pm on Sunday.

A technical team immediately patrolled the lines and discovered there were low tension wires sparking due to a sagging conductor line and proceeded with repair works, with power restored within an hour, said SEB.

“The interruption affected some parts of the town area including the clinic, a kindergarten, community hall, some residential homes and longhouses Rumah Tan Ak Nari, Rumah Joseph Serang and Rumah Sam ak Mawan,” SEB said.

The organisation said it was committed in mobilising all resources and will continue to be on high alert to ensure continued reliability of supply during the 14th General Election (GE14).

SEB added it has been intensifying monitoring of its feeders, with switching and standby personnel stationed at strategic points on the supply network system and critical facilities throughout the state.

Standby technical teams were ready for swift deployment to expedite supply restoration in case of a supply interruption.

SEB also reminded the public that reports and enquiries could be channelled to its 24-hour Customer Careline at 1300-88-3111 and updates on shutdowns and supply interruptions could also be obtained through its ‘SEB Cares’ mobile app available for download at Apple’s App Store for iOS and Google Play for Android. — DayakDaily
