KUCHING, April 28: It will no longer be mandatory for Sarawakians to check-in at premises via the MySejahtera app and wearing of masks outdoors is no longer compulsory come May 1 (Sunday).
According to Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, the Sarawak Cabinet has agreed today to adopt the newly revised SOPs announced by Putrajaya yesterday.
Uggah, who is also Deputy Premier of Sarawak, confirmed with DayakDaily that Sarawak will follow the relaxation of SOPs as announced by Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin yesterday.
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin announced that checking-in at premises and public places using the MySejahtera app will no longer be compulsory starting this Sunday (May 1).
At the same time, he also said that wearing of face masks will no longer be mandatory outdoors and in open spaces, also effective May 1.
At a hybrid press conference streamed from Putrajaya today, Khairy however said when indoors or using public transport including e-hailing, face masks are still compulsory and the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342) remains enforced.
Meanwhile, Khairy also announced that handshakes are now allowed but members of the public are advised to wash their hands often, maintain personal hygiene and not to touch the eyes, nose and mouth after having contact with others.
He also announced that nightclubs will be allowed to reopen on May 15, following the relaxation of a series of SOP related to Covid-19. — DayakDaily
