This is Sarawak’s largest and busiest bazaar, and it attracts a large number of visitors each year.

This year, Satok Aidilfitri Bazaar will be open from 10am to 12am from April 5 to April 21 (the eve of Hari Raya Aidilfitri), with more than 60 stalls at the bazaar, which is divided into Zones A, B, and C.

However, DayakDaily observed that many vendors have yet to open their stalls during yesterday’s checks during the day at the bazaar.

Visiting in the morning and afternoon, DayakDaily noticed that many vendors had yet to set up their stalls.

“Today (April 6), many of us started setting up shop at around 3pm”, said Mira, who is selling baju raya and casual clothing for the first time at the bazaar.

She also told DayakDaily that today’s business is slower than yesterday due to heavy rainfall in the afternoon, which has since subsided as night began to fall.

When asked how she feels about setting up shop at Satok Aidilfitri Bazaar for the first time this year, Mira responded, “Pretty excited, because it’s always nice to see large crowds shopping for Raya.”

In addition to baju raya and accessories, many vendors sell homemade festive biscuits in a wide variety of types and flavours.

Moreover, shoppers who work up an appetite can stop by the stalls lining the road just outside the bazaar and pick up satay, fried snacks, drinks, and more.

By late evening, DayakDaily noticed that the bazaar had become increasingly crowded, likely due to the fact that the rain had stopped and the evening’s cool weather made it an ideal time to go Raya shopping.

So if you’re in the mood for shopping, supporting local businesses at Satok Aidilfitri Bazaar is a great place to start. — DayakDaily
