SUPP Stakan chairman: DAP Sarawak could have arranged for local businesses to join PM’s entourage to China

Dato Sim Kiang Chiok

KUCHING, April 7: Instead of depending on the Sarawak government, Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) could have made arrangements with the Federal government for local business representatives to join the Prime Minister’s entourage to China.

Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Stakan branch chairman Dato Sim Kiang Chiok said this while chiding DAP Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen for blaming the Sarawak government when they themselves could have done the same.

“We ask DAP, if you are sincere, you would have made arrangements for businesses to follow the PM entourage without the need for the Sarawak government’s intervention by using your influence as the largest bloc in the unity government to do so,” said Sim in a statement today.

He said DAP Sarawak is mostly representing the major urban constituencies in Sarawak and they have themselves missed the opportunity to help Sarawakian businesses.

Putting PM’s entourage to China aside, Sim said the Sarawak government has always been making its own trips overseas while being accompanied by local businesses or associations’ representatives.

DAP chided Sarawak for not following the PMX (10th Prime Minister) on his overseas trips to showcase our businesses but they conveniently left out the facts that Sarawak has always been making our own trips with the relevant industries and local businessmen in tow.

“Sarawak has proven to be excellent at gaining foreign direct investments and Sarawakian companies being exposed to all the contracts and goodwill that the government has with all our trading partners, and DAP wishes to whitewash all these achievements,” he said. — DayakDaily
