SARIKEI, July 18: The Social Welfare Office Sarikei Division (PKMB Sarikei) is currently seeking the biological mother or next-of-kin of a baby girl who was abandoned at a rental house along Jalan Tunku Osman in Sibu, in early April.
According to a TVS news report, the baby, estimated to be around three months old at the time of discovery, is now under the care of a child protector at the agency’s office.
In a statement issued on Thursday (July 17), PKMB Sarikei said the baby was found on April 10, 2025, and a police report was lodged at the Sibu Central Police Station regarding the discovery.
“The case is still under investigation under the Child Act 2001, and we need to locate the baby’s biological mother or next-of-kin for placement arrangements and birth certificate registration,” said a spokesperson for the office.
The public is urged to come forward with any information or if they know the biological mother by contacting child protectors, Atika or Emy, at 084-651005 or 084-644750.
PKMB Sarikei appeals for the cooperation of all parties to help locate the baby’s next of kin to ensure her welfare and future are protected. — DayakDaily
