Sarawak’s new Covid-19 cases rebound to 4,709, includes backlog from Sept 10-14

KUCHING, Sept 15: The number of new Covid-19 cases in Sarawak has rebounded to 4,709 from yesterday’s 1,983 cases, setting the State’s second highest daily tally to date.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) explained that the high number today included a cumulative backlog of tests from Sept 10 to 14.


Of the total, it noted 4,702 cases or 99.85 per cent of Covid-19 patients were in Categories 1 and 2 with no or mild symptoms, and seven cases or 0.15 per cent overall in Categories 3, 4 and 5.

By numbers, there were 3,790 patients in Category 1, 912 in Category 2, one each in Categories 3 and 4, and five in Category 5.

In terms of districts, Kuching remained at the top of the list, reporting 1,866 new cases, followed by Samarahan (417), Bintulu (369), Sibu (347), Serian (289), Simunjan (227), Bau (192), Asajaya (129), Miri (117), and Betong (108).

Other districts that saw double-digit case counts were Mukah (72), Pakan (67), Saratok (63), Pusa (61), Sarikei (53), Sri Aman (49), Kapit (48), Subis (46), Tebedu (41), Limbang (30), Selangau (20), Lawas (17), Belaga (13), Lubok Antu (11), Tatau (10), Sebauh (10), and Dalat (10).

The remaining districts with new infections comprised Beluru (6), Meradong (4), Kanowit (4), Julau (4), Matu (3), Lundu (2), Telang Usan (2), and Bukit Mabong (2). — DayakDaily
