Sarawak’s flood situation improves as evacuee numbers decrease

KUCHING, Feb 3: The number of flood victims in Sarawak has decreased to 10,104 at 44 relief centres (PPS) compared to 10,973 as of 8pm last night (Feb 2).

According to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) secretariat, 19 PPS have closed as floodwaters started to recede.

“Flood victims at the Bintulu and Serian divisions remain at 5,075 and 1,847, respectively.

“In Samarahan, flood victims have decreased to 651 in five PPS compared to 1,487, and for Sibu, the numbers have declined to 1,162 from 1,187.

“As for Mukah, there are 81 victims and 1,288 in Miri,” it said in a statement yesterday, as reported by Bernama.

Meanwhile, Sabah also recorded a decrease in flood victims from 675 to 155 as of 4pm yesterday. — DayakDaily
