KUCHING, June 23: Sarawakian students heading overseas for education in September will get the opportunity to be vaccinated earlier.
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) advisor Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian said the Sarawak government will introduce procedures to enable these students to get their Covid-19 vaccinations before leaving for their studies.
“A lot of enquiries and requests from anxious students and parents for Sarawakians going to study overseas in September, there will be a procedure of how to apply for early vaccination involving letters and supporting documents.
“As need to complete two doses, we probably need to start the first dose in the first two weeks of July (substantial amount of Pfizer in July) to complete dose two by the first week of August,” he said in a Facebook post last night.
As for Sarawakian overseas who are planning to return here after completing their first doses, Dr Sim who is also Minister for Local Government and Housing advised those who had gotten jabbed with Pfizer or Sinovac vaccines to do so.
He added this is because both Pfizer and Sinovac vaccines will be readily available in Sarawak soon. — DayakDaily
