KUCHING, Oct 7: Sarawakian youths are encouraged to be on the lookout for educational exchange programmes conducted by the United States (US) Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

“We remain committed in empowering the youths in Sarawak through various programmes such as digitisation, leadership, accurate journalism and so on,” US Ambassador to Malaysia Brian McFeeters said during a press roundtable event at the Sarawak Biodiversity Centre today.

“In fact, we have sent many Malaysians including Sarawakians to the US on various youth programmes,” he said .

Since 2004, the US Embassy has partnered with Pustaka Negeri Sarawak to host American Corner (AC) Sarawak, a place for Sarawakians to visit and learn more about the United States and the US-Malaysia partnership.

“AC Sarawak has been vital in organising educational outreach and interactive programmes and exhibits for youth in digital economy, climate change, as well as Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education,” McFeeters added.

Echoing McFeeters was Press Attache for the US Embassy of Kuala Lumpur, Gurdit Singh.

“There are many youth exchange and educational programmes for Malaysians, including Sarawakians, such as journalism programmes using data visualisation.

“We encourage Sarawakians to follow our Embassy’s youth programme because we promote all kinds of exchange opportunities. There are some programmes that are still open for application, with deadlines approaching soon, so please apply,” Gurdit said. — DayakDaily
