KUCHING, Dec 2: Sarawak hopes that the status quo will be maintained in the upcoming Federal Cabinet, says Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
He was referring to the fact that Sarawak had four full ministerial posts in the previous Federal Cabinet.
“We hope that number of posts will be maintained for Sarawak.
“Despite knowing that the Cabinet (size) will be trimmed down, if we can still maintain the four (ministerial posts), it will be good,” he said during a press conference on the national-level Arab and Chinese calligraphy competition at Baitul Makmur 2 today.
Abdul Karim further said that it would be a heavy task for any prime minister to establish a Cabinet and satisfy the involved parties in a unity government.
“But I believe the prime minister (Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim) will not forget the aspirations of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and the Sarawak government,” he added.
It is speculated that the prime minister will announce the new Federal Cabinet lineup later in the evening. — DayakDaily
