KUCHING, July 26: The ‘International Preschool Education Convention’ will be held in Miri from August 26 to 28 with the theme “Adaptability And Resilience In The New Norm”, according to Minister for Women, Early Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah.
She made the remarks today at the ‘2022 Appreciation Ceremony for the Ministry of Women, Early Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development (KPWK) With Agencies’ at a hotel here.
“Despite still being in the pandemic phase in 2021, the Early Childhood Development Division (BPAKK) successfully organised the ‘International Preschool Education Convention’ with the theme “Character Building In The New Norm” for the first time.
“Although it was the first international convention to be held and the first to be held virtually, a total of 2,102 people attended the convention, including 30 individuals from Brunei Darussalam, Singapore, Japan, and Indonesia,” she revealed.
Fatimah also congratulated the 73 Excellent Service Award (APC) 2021 recipients.
“This recognition, hopefully, will instil enthusiasm and inspire all personnel in the ministry, Sarawak Social Welfare Department (JKMS), and Sarawak Women and Family Department (JWKS) to normalise an excellent work culture,” she said.
The 73 APC recipients comprise seven KPWK recipients, 23 JKMS (State) recipients, 37 JKMS (Federal) recipients, and six JWKS recipients.
Fatimah, who is also the Dalat assemblywoman, added that the ceremony also honours and recognises 15 officers who will retire in 2022.
The 15 retired officers consist of three KPWK officers, seven JKMS (State) officers, four JKMS (Federal) officers, and one JWKS officer.
Fatimah also paid tribute to JWKS director Norita Bawi, who served as director from March 3, 2021 and will end her service on July 30, 2022, upon retirement.
“Despite her brief tenure, she had a significant impact on JWKS staff and JWKS target groups, as well as women and family institutions,” Fatimah added.
Meanwhile, the minister revealed that a total of 20 officers will be transferred to new stations this year, comprising six from KPWK, 13 from JKMS (federal), and one from JWKS. — DayakDaily
