KUCHING, May 22: Sarawak is elevating the global recognition of its indigenous culture by showcasing unique indigenous crafts at the prestigious Révélations Biennale in Paris, held from May 21 to 25, 2025, at the newly restored Grand Palais.
The Révélations Biennial is a major event in the field of art and design, with 37,000 visitors expected to attend to discover extraordinary works including those by Sarawak’s creative talents from the indigenous communities.

These crafts were displayed at the ‘Sarawak Crafts Revealed’ exhibition, supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak.
Sarawak’s indigenous communities are the heart of the State’s cultural identity and keepers of centuries-old craft traditions.
Showcasing their work internationally honours them as guardians of heritage. Through continued craft-making, they preserve cultural knowledge, support local livelihoods, build community resilience, and inspire the next generation to carry on their legacy.
The event also provided a significant platform for cultural diplomacy, with Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak Datuk Snowdan Lawan meeting World Crafts Council president Bárbara Velasco to reaffirm Sarawak’s commitment to cultural exchange and sustainable craft development.
Snowdan stated that the Ministry is proud to support Sarawak’s participation at this renowned international platform and that the exhibition reflects the government’s dedication to preserving traditional knowledge while helping artisans grow and succeed in the global creative economy.
By linking local craft communities with new markets and opportunities, the exhibition opens global pathways for Sarawak’s creative future. – DayakDaily
