KUCHING, Dec 16: A closed door meeting was held today between the chief ministers of Sarawak and Sabah and the prime minister over oil and gas resources in the two Bornean states.
The tripartite discussion involved Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal meeting Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya.
According to the press statement from Chief Minister’s Office, the meeting was a separate forum from the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) Steering Committee to discuss and address issues relating to Sarawak’s and Sabah’s oil and gas rights vis-a-vis the Federal Constitution and MA63.
No immediate details were available on the one-and-a-half hour discussion. —DayakDaily
