Sarawak loses one more green zone district, Bau turns yellow

KUCHING, Jan 23: Sarawak loses another green-zone district to Covid-19 as Bau turns yellow today, leaving only 14 out of 40 districts that are free from the local transmission.

After its record of one local case, State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) labelled Bau as yellow zone together with the other 17 yellow zones.


They are Daro, Pakan, Serian, Subis, Belaha, Betong, Meradong, Julau, Kapit, Simunjan, Asajaya, Lubok Antu, Sarikei, Limbang, Selangau, Samarahan and Sri Aman.

At the same time, the committee reported Bintulu as an orange zone today after finding 29 local transmission cases in the district in the past two weeks.

While Sebauh and Dalat remain as Covid-19 orange zones with 62 local cases, Kuching, Sibu, Miri, Beluru and Kanowit retain their red zone statuses with a total of 1,512 local cases in the last 14 days.

On active clusters in the state, eight clusters remain active with half of them reporting new cases today.

Pasai Cluster from Sibu tops the list with 132 new Covid-19 positives, which makes it a total of 1,275 cases in one cluster.

SDMC, in its Covid-19 daily report, also stated that Bukit Sekubong Cluster from Sebauh had four new cases, Rakut Cluster and Bah Sayap Clusters from Miri each had one new case.

No new cases were found in the rest of the clusters namely Jelita Cluster (Miri), Keranji Tabuan Cluster (Kuching), Stutong Cluster (Kuching) and Mador Cluster (Meradong).

Out of the eight, Pasai Cluster continues to remain as the biggest cluster among others with a cumulative number of 1,275 cases as of today.

The committee said 12,250 individuals have been screened whereby 9,250 were negative and 1,725 more still awaiting laboratory test results.—DayakDaily
