Sarawak logs two new deaths including one BID as Kuching, Miri report triple-digit cases again

KUCHING, March 13: Sarawak has logged two new Covid-19 deaths including one brought-in-dead (BID) case, as Kuching and Miri reported triple-digit daily infections again today.

In a statement today, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the BID case involved a 78-year-old woman from Serian with no history of medical illnesses who passed away on March 10.


Another fatality involved a 74-year-old from Kuching who passed away on March 12. She had high blood pressure, dyslipidemia, diabetes and heart disease.

The two deaths pushed the State’s death toll to 1,644.

Meanwhile, Sarawak registered 1,354 new Covid-19 cases today, with 1,341 cases in the mild categories and 13 more in serious categories.

There were 623 cases in Category 1 (no symptoms), 718 in Category 2 (mild symptoms), five in Category 3 (lung infection), five in Category 4 (lung infection and requiring oxygen supply) and three in Category 5 (lung infection and requiring ventilators).

On the breakdown of the cases, Kuching reported the highest number with 563 cases, followed by Miri (215), Sibu (98), Bintulu (98), Samarahan (59), Serian (50), Sarikei (41), Tanjung Manis (32), Limbang (27), Sri Aman (22), Betong (14), Saratok (14), Bau (13), Mukah (13), Marudi (13), Dalat (12) and Lawas (11).

Other districts with new infections were Kapit (9), Subis (9), Meradong (8), Lundu (6), Simunjan (5), Lubok Antu (5), Kabong (3), Pakan (2), Kanowit (2), Tebedu (2), Asajaya (2), while Daro, Tatau, Telang Usan, Beluru, Selangau and Belaga recorded one case each.

The cumulative number of Covid-19 cases now stands at 278,631. — DayakDaily
