Sarawak logs 239 new Covid-19 cases, two deaths today

KUCHING, Nov 23: Sarawak registered 239 new Covid-19 cases today, an increase from the 147 cases reported yesterday.

This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Sarawak to 249,722.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said two Covid-19 patients were in the critical stage, with one patient in Category 3 with pneumonia and one patient in Category 4 on respiratory support.


There were 161 patients in Category 2 with mild symptoms and 76 asymptomatic patients in Category 1.

Meanwhile, 19 out of the 40 districts throughout the State reported new infections.

Kuching saw the most cases with 65 new infections followed by Miri with 46 cases, Beluru (45), Sibu (19), Serian (15).

Districts reporting less than 10 cases comprised Bintulu (9), Lawas (8), Mukah (6), Limbang (6), Samarahan (6), Sarikei (3), Lundu (2), Daro (2), Dalat (2), Kapit (1), Bau (1), Tanjung Manis (1), Subis (1) and Bukit Mabong (1).

Districts with zero new Covid-19 cases comprised Kabong, Saratok, Asajaya, Betong, Sebauh, Matu, Kanowit, Pusa, Sri Aman, Selangau, Lubok Antu, Simunjan, Meradong, Tebedu, Tatau, Marudi, Julau, Song, Belaga, Telang Usan and Pakan.

Meanwhile, SDMC said there were two new Covid-19 deaths involving two men with comorbidities from Sibu.

The first man aged 77 died on Nov 19 while the second man aged 68 passed away the following day.

With this, the Covid-19 death toll in Sarawak has increased to 1,567.

There were no new Covid-19 clusters declared or ended today.
