KUCHING, Jan 17: Sarawak is the second most active state nationwide, after Sabah, in terms of Boost e-wallet applications and transactions.

Chief executive officer (CEO) of Axiata Digital Services, the parent company of Boost, Mohd Khairil Abdullah said Sarawak had recorded about 100,000 very productive consumers, with 7,100 merchants.

“Boost’s active users in Sarawak spent an average of RM350 per week, as compared to RM45 per week, one year ago. Since the introduction of the e-Tunai Rakyat initiative on Jan 15, more merchants have applied to be a merchant partner,” Mohd Khairil told reporters at a press conference today.

He added that Boost was all over in the state’s major towns including Sibu, Bintulu, Miri and even Sarikei.

They will continue to aggressively invite more merchants to join them.

Mohd Khairil added that today Boost has about 5.1 million users and the company aims to increase its users to 10 million by year-end.

This is propelled by increased e-wallet adoption among Malaysians as well as the federal government’s ongoing e-Tunai Rakyat initiative.

“To usher in the Chinese New Year celebrations, users can participate in the Boost Ang Pow Challenge. Once the user has submitted their e-Tunai Rakyat claim, they will automatically receive two Ang Pows in the Boost app with a value of up to RM10 each. The goal here is to continue playing the challenge.

“Users need to share at least one Ang Pow with another Boost user who isn’t currently playing the Ang Pow Challenge or a non-Boost user in order to continue receiving two Ang Pows daily. By continuing to play the challenge, users can go on to collect a lot more in Ang Pow money cumulatively,” Mohd Khairil explained.

Meanwhile, users can also look out for numerous offers on in-app purchases, bill payments, movie tickets or even prepaid top-ups, among others, which offer savings of up to RM1,888.

Alternatively, users can also choose to purchase attractive bundled deals from partners within the Boost app where they stand to save up to RM150.

Boost will also be rewarding users who bring their friends and family onboard the cashless revolution.

With a unique referral code, users can earn an additional RM18 in cash rewards for every five people they refer to Boost.

Each referral is worth RM3 with every fifth referral earning a user RM6.

There is no limit to how many times a user can claim the referral cash reward. —DayakDaily
