KUCHING, Nov 12: Sarawak has the potential to supply China and India with green energy.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said Sarawak is strategically located between both economic powers.
According to Abang Johari, Bintulu Port getting taken over by the Sarawak government is also an added advantage for Sarawak especially in terms of logistics.
“This means that we have to optimise our trade and resources, including upgrading our producta to a higher level which is green products,” he said when attending a luncheon held in conjunction with Deepavali hosted at King’s Curry here today hosted by senior lawyer Shankar Ram Asnani, who is also president of the Sri Maha Mariamman temple committee.
Abang Johari opined that with current world demand emphasising green energy, it will somehow lead them to Sarawak.
“Just like an ant attracted to sugar, the moment you become sugar, the ant will come. That will be the concept of that we are going to do for Sarawak.
“I hope we will achieve it towards or beyond 2030,” he said. — DayakDaily
